The Asia-Pacific in Earth System Governance Campfire Session: Integrating South-South Perspectives
Organized by Asia-Pacific Working Group
In this online session, we will host a campfire-style event where several speakers will share their research and science-policy work on Earth System Governance in the Asia-Pacific context. Our aim is to curate a diverse panel, with each speaker offering unique insights into the intersection of policy and science within the ESG domain. The session will begin with presentations from the speakers, providing attendees with a glimpse into their work and perspectives on ESG, including climate and disaster risk reduction, climate security and finance, broader sustainability and environmental politics, and the potential of South-South cooperation in the Asia-Pacific.
Following the presentations, the floor will open for discussions, questions, and knowledge sharing. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore various conceptual, thematic, and empirical perspectives on ESG, with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. Topics will include South-South cooperation initiatives that foster collaboration among developing countries, enhancing mutual support in addressing environmental challenges and sustainable development. This will enrich attendees' understanding through diverse viewpoints.
To facilitate deeper engagement, breakout group activities will be integrated throughout the session. These smaller group discussions will enable participants to delve into specific issues, including opportunities for South-South cooperation, exchange ideas, and collaborate in a more intimate setting. Subsequently, insights from these discussions will be brought back to the larger plenary, enhancing collective learning and fostering potential collaborations.
