Just Pathways for Sustainable Food Systems and Farmers

Organized by Research Centre Australia

Recent efforts have been made to consider and plan for future food systems. But much work remains to be done in this area to address water scarcity, climatic change and land use pressures, whilst considering just pathways that deliver inclusive and sustainable outcomes for both food systems and farmers embedded in contextual and cultural place. This session will explore a range of strategies for cultivating sustainability governance pathways at all scales (global – to local), drawing on both advances in theory and practical innovations. The aim of the session is to identify the key principles for design and delivery of just pathways for sustainable food systems and farmers. The session will begin with each speaker sharing their three key principles, then moderated discussion with all participants to elaborate on key principles, plus audience Q&A.
