Thorny Decarbonization Pathways: Exploring Contention in Low-Carbon Transition

Organized by Working Group on Decarbonisation

The urgent need for deep decarbonisation has become an undeniable reality in the face of escalating climate change. As we navigate this critical and complex transformation, the intricate web of ideas and diverse perspectives surrounding decarbonization emerges as a contentious terrain.

Decarbonisation (broadly understood as an amalgam of climate mitigation efforts aiming at the reduction of carbon dioxide output into the atmosphere) manifests in various forms, each laden with its unique challenges and controversies. One common thread unites them all – the inherent contentious nature of decarbonisation. This panel aims to unravel and analyze the conflicts that arise at the core of this transformative process.
