J. Michael Angstadt
Assistant Professor, Colorado College
About this speaker
Mike Angstadt teaches and researches at the nexus of environmental law and environmental politics. Motivated by urgent governance challenges including climate change, he explores (1) how domestic courts and nonstate actors influence the development of international environmental law, (2) how judges and courts can promote procedural environmental justice and environmental protection, (3) how we can reimagine environmental law to better address systemic environmental challenges, and (4) how the disciplines and theories of international environmental law and global environmental politics can speak meaningfully to one another. He holds a JD with certificates in environmental and international law from Haub Law (Pace University) and a PhD in Environmental Politics (with NSF IGERT traineeship) from Colorado State University. Mike is a research fellow with the Earth System Governance research alliance, a member of the IUCN's World Commission on Environmental Law, and a member (inactive retired) of the New Hampshire (USA) Bar.
