Assistant Professor and Canada Research Chair in Urban Wellness, MacEwan University

About this speaker

Dr. Marielle Papin is an urban and international relations scholar. She investigates how cities seek to improve the well-being of their residents through urban wellness and environmental policies and initiatives. She is also interested in understanding how they collaborate to strengthen urban climate governance. Why do cities develop climate policies? How do they work together at the global level? Who are the public and private actors involved in their networks? What can cities do to improve the well-being of their residents, and how far can they go? Do urban wellness and climate policies go hand in hand? Those are some of the questions that Dr. Papin seeks to answer in her work.

Dr. Papin is involved in several international networks, including the Earth System Governance project and the Environmental Studies Section of the International Studies Association.

Prior to graduate school, she worked for a Mexican non-profit organization developing environmental education programs in schools and governmental agencies.
