About this speaker
Jonathan is an Associate Professor in the Canberra School of Politics, Economics and Society at the University of Canberra, where he has taught international relations since 2020. From 2015 to 2019 he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Canberra, based at the Centre for Deliberative Democracy and Global Governance. He completed his PhD at the Australian National University, graduating in 2014.
His research focuses on democracy and justice in environmental and energy governance. He co-authored with John Dryzek the book The Politics of the Anthropocene (2019) published by Oxford University Press. His research has been published in a range of journals including Climate Policy, Ecological Economics, Environmental Politics, Global Environmental Politics and World Development.
Jonathan has been a Research Fellow of the Earth System Governance Project since 2015, a member of the Project’s Scientific Steering Committee since 2018, and a co-chair of the Committee since 2023. From 2016-22 he co-convened the Project’s Working Group on Democracy.
