About this speaker

Anne J. Kantel studied Governance and Public Policy (Bachelor of Arts) at the University of Passau and holds Masters degrees in Political Science (Freie Universität Berlin) and International Affairs (American University, USA). In 2019, she successfully completed her PhD in International Relations at the American University in Washington, DC. Her dissertation focuses on processes of de-legitimization of fisheries and land policies in Uganda. From 2019 to 2021, she worked as a social policy advisor at Sozialverband Deutschland in Lower Saxony. Since October 2021, Anne Kantel is a senior scientist in the Business Unit Actors and Social Acceptance in the Transformation of the Energy System of the Competence Center Energy Policy and Energy Markets at the Fraunhofer Institut for Systems and Innovation Research. Her research focuses on questions of acceptance, legitimacy and justice in the energy transition with a focus on technologies, such as green hydrogen and CCUS.
