About this speaker

Miranda Boettcher is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Environmental Governance Section of the Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Utrecht University. She has a background in Global Environmental Politics, the Sociology of Knowledge, and Foresight. Her research maps the discursive construction and legitimization of future climate policy options, with a current focus on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR).

Miranda is also a Resesarch Associate at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin, Germany, and she leads a German-government-funded project (Marine CDR: Scenarios and Governance (ASMASYS-2-C). Additionally, Miranda co-coordinates the Carbon Removal Working Group of the ESG Taskforce on Climate Governance, and is a member of the UN GESAMP Working Group 41 on Ocean Interventions for Climate Mitigation.
